Things Left Unsaid, 2015, mixed media castings including clay, charcoal, dirt, cement, nails, crayon wax, sidewalk chalk, resin, grass, hair, handwritten letters, glitter, and chocolate
Things left unsaid have a way of lingering: questions are unanswered, voices go unheard, conversations with ourselves run in circles. Repeated thoughts searching for a way out are released in the pushes and pulls of clay. A new form emerges; figures twisted in the discomfort of their silence. I’ve created multiple variations by using different materials that represent how thoughts transform within us as we process and release our pain. The figures are arranged rising from the ashes or erupting from the earth and in their masses become a collective voice that can no longer be ignored.
